Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Overview
First produced in 1990, the Land Cruiser Prado is now in its fifth generation. Serving as the counterpart of the Land Cruiser 300, the Prado still has all the characteristics the LC300 is known for, but in a more affordable, rugged, and compact package. The fifth-generation Prado now features a boxier look reminiscent of the original J70 Land Cruiser. The front end of the Land Cruiser Prado features rectangular headlights and a grille with vertical slats.
Inside the Land Cruiser Prado has a black-themed interior with leather upholstery, tough, matte plastics, a steering wheel with a multi-function control, and leather seats for seven people. A 10-speaker entertainment system with Bluetooth connectivity is at the helm which the passengers can enjoy together with the dual automatic climate control. Roaring underneath the Prado's hood is a 2.4-liter gasoline engine. The T24A-FTS engine puts out 277 hp and 430 Nm of torque, which is then mated to a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission that transfers to all four wheels.
- Launch
-
The first-gen Land Cruiser Prado was introduced to the global market in 1990 as a new variant of the J70 Land Cruiser, marketed towards on-road use.
The fifth-generation Land Cruiser quietly entered the Philippine market in 2024, replacing the long-lived J150 that first entered the Philippine market in 2011. At launch, the J250 Land Cruiser Prado was available in one variant, powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter gasoline engine as the sole engine option. The J250 Prado came with a P4,800,000 price tag.

Designated as the Prado J250, the fifth-generation Land Cruiser is built on Toyota’s TNGA-F (GA-F) platform for body-on-frame vehicles. The Prado measures 4,925 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, 1,870 mm tall with a wheelbase measuring 2,850 mm.
Underneath, the J250 is equipped with a double-wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension setup at the rear. Ventilated discs provide stopping power on all four wheels, housed inside massive 20-inch alloy wheels. In addition, the Prado is equipped with Adaptive Variable Suspension System, providing great adaptability between on-road and off-road use.
The heart of the Land Cruiser Prado is a 2.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The engine puts out 277 hp and 430 Nm of torque, which is then mated to a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission that transfers to all four wheels.
